Aug. 16–Stan Lopata used to buy medication for his cancer- stricken wife at Wal-Mart’s pharmacy in Delray Beach until he found a pharmacy in Miami that offers the same drug for half the price.
Lopata, 74, said his wife, Minnie, 74, who receives chemotherapy treatments, takes a drug called MS Contin, a morphine painkiller, that cost him $64.72 at Wal-Mart for 50 of the 30 mg tablets.
With a tip from his doctor, Lopata found the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center pharmacy at the University of Miami where the same dosage cost $28.
